Soggy the Bear
By Philip Moran and illustrated by Michael Foreman
This series is all set in St Ives and the surrounding countryside and follows a bear who, in the first title, is lost at sea, rescued and given a new home and name – Soggy! The rest of the books follow him and his friends Grandfather and Jack on various escapades with an assortment of characters. Many visitors to St Ives will be familiar with these stories and ‘Grandfather’ Phil’s house with its balcony overlooking the harbour.

Helen Dunmore and Rebecca Cobb’s Cornish trio
Both The Islanders and The Lonely Sea Dragon are set in St Ives, whilst The Ferry Birds is based on a couple of turnstones who really do ride the ferry at St Mawes!
